Llangors is a popular school which has maintained an enrolment of over 120 pupils since it moved to the new building in 1973. Should you wish to visit the school to see our excellent facilities, please do not hesitate to contact us or pop in to make an appointment.
Getting to know the school
When you contact us to enrol your child you will be invited to visit the school to speak with the Headteacher and class teacher and will be shown around the school. You will receive an up-to date copy of this school brochure and other admission materials. You will be required to apply to the LEA (Powys) for a place at the school; these forms will be given to you in our admission pack. This is standard procedure for Powys schools.
When your child can enter school
Children are admitted to the Nursery class at the beginning of the term that they are 4. The term prior to this, children are offered half day ‘taster’ sessions to familiarise them with the classroom and staff. This is in line with the Powys Admissions Policy.
In special circumstances children under the statutory age may be admitted, e.g. when, on the recommendation of the County Special Needs Support Team or Social Services, early entry would benefit the child. Each child will be considered on an individual basis.
The teacher of the nursery/reception class is assisted by a 2 full-time assistants (NVQ Level 3).
When the school is full
Preference will be given to children according to the following criteria:
Children with a sibling present attending the school.
Children whose sibling(s) attended the school in the recent past.
Children living within the schools catchment area.
Children living the shortest distance from the school as measured along existing transport routes.
Transfer from another school
Parents and pupils are invited to visit the school to meet the Headteacher and staff and to discuss the reasons for the move. A brochure and admission materials will be provided. We always try to contact the Headteacher or class teacher of the school from which your child is transferring. An application must then be made to Powys LEA requesting the move.
